This lesson aims at triggering a debate on the ethics of commercial surrogacy that has just been banned in India - a former 'rent a womb' haven
This time around, your students will get an insight into what the supporters and the opponents of the new regulations think. This will provide learners with enough arguments to draw on when they debate the issue in open class, if you wish to have such a discussion at all. I find that some groups of learners, depending on their social and ethnic background, are reluctant to share their opinions in front of everybody. Whenever this is the case, I ask my students to express their opinion on the subject in writing. I set the task for the last 20 - 30 minutes of the class or as a homework assignment. I usually get very interesting and honest essays back, as long as it's individual work.
The worksheet itself focuses on potentially new vocabulary from the video, as well as selected uses of the present perfect tense, also picked out from the report.
The last task is optional (Follow-up task) and could be set as homework since it requires greater concentration and a longer attention span - things that might be hard to achieve towards the end of a class.
